A nugget for the Supervisors...(Chiefs, Captains, LTs)
We can still learn things from the private sector sometimes. Keeping your people happy is the trick regardless of company, pay structure and product being sold.

just as a side note...
Here in the fire service I would say on the rigs we have Leaders. The managers sit in offices and do the hiring and firing.
Be a leader
Best way I know is the Marine Corps 13 leadership traits
Find it here: http://www.au.af.mil/au/awc/awcgate/...hip_traits.htm

A good leader should have a two word definition of leadership:"Follow Me.".If you want information on Navy SEAL leadership translated into corporatese, read Richard Marcinko's"Leadership Secrets of the Rogue Warrior".
His idea of equality is to" Treat everyone just the same,Just like Sh**".

We are no longer part of the military, but part of the corpoate stucture of the government. It was sad watching Presidents Fords funeral coverage. Hell, the Cub Scouts looked sharper in their uniforms than the Navy did (Every sailor that you saw had that unathorized roll on the top of their white hat, big Reg no-no).Co 11

Amateurs practice until they get it right; professionals practice until they cannot get it wrong. Which one are you?
'The fire went out and nobody got hurt' is a poor excuse for a fireground critique.

One gripe I have with the navy is 98% of all recruiting commercials have something to do with the SEALS. Yet, the seals are may comprise 0.25% of the navy's total personnel.
Navy Leadership is good in certain areas, forthright battle leadership is only seen in the SEAL groups, CB's, and EOD.
