Default Key Less entry systems on the federal grant?

My department got to talking the other day and were wondering if the AFG grant would fund a keyless entry system? (something to where you hold a keychain looking chip up to a sensor to open doors and it would log it into a computer as to who was coming in and out).

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Since AFG is prioritized towards FF safety, I would not think it would have a very good chance on that program. Why don't you look for a corpoarte psonsor like State Farm or Fireman;s Heritage Fund, Allstate maybe even Walmart.

Insted of keyless entry call it Access Control as that is what you are looking for. Most of these systems use a proximity sensor, card or keyphob, and would also provide the audit trail you are looking for. Depending on the situation these systems can be very inexpensive or be very costly. Depending on the use of your building there may be a way to funnel something like this under security improvement priojects.

If you need additional information on these systems e-mail me through my profile and I'll lend whatever assistance I can.

I know of a few FD's that used State Homeland Security Grant Progam money for keyless entry systems.
