Just trying to get all my ducks in a row before the application period opens.
If we were to apply for a regional grant for an MCI/Decon Trailer would it be eligible as a regional grant.
The trailer would respond to the whole county and be stored at the airport due to its geographic location and a 24 hour accessible secured location.
My department would be the host for the Grant, but there is no room in our station and we do not have the manpower to transport the trailer if needed. (all on duty personnel would be at the incident). EMA has said they would respond with the trailer to wherever it needs to go and we would be responsible for inventory control, etc.
The question is: Sould I make this a Regional Grant or not?![]()

Per the PG:
Based on the above, the MCI/Decon Trailer would not be eligible for a regional grant. In general, equipment purchased as a result of a regional project will be physically distributed to all the departments that are beneficiaries of the project. This physical distribution of the equipment to other first-responder organizations is the single characteristic that distinguishes regional projects from non-regional requests that have an impact on a region via mutual aid. For example, a non-regional project would beapplication for an air compressor or a HAZMAT vehicle that would be awarded and physically located in the awardee ’s department but shared with the neighboring departments with which a mutual or automatic aid agreement exists.

Based on that information then a mobile live fire training trailer would not be eligible either as we cant cut it up and put part of it in each of the cooperating stations? My thought was regionalized live fire training by using a trailer mounted burn container that could be transported to any of the cooperating agencies?

Ok,
Here's a twist on this one..........
I was asked to help with a "kidde" type mobile smokehouse.
It will be for the entire county, and it would live at the County coordinators office.
Can the Fire Coordinators office put in for this as their own entity?
and
How to go about it?

From the program guidance for 2006:
"...the only activities available for application under a regional project are training, equipment acquisition and personal protective equipment acquisition. Wellness and fitness, modification to facilities, and vehicle acquisition activities are not eligible as a regional project."
Also, as previously noted:
"In general, equipment purchased as a result of a regional project will be physically distributed to all the departments that are beneficiaries of the project. This physical distribution of the equipment to other first-responder organizations is the single characteristic that distinguishes regional projects from non-regional requests that have an impact on a region via mutual aid."
Based on these two sections, the equipment and trailer would not qualify since they will not be "physically distributed" to all departments sharing in the project. As for the other postings, the training trailer qualifies as a regional training capability and not as "equipment".
And for the other question posted by MarionMedic, a regional training office could not apply since they are not a Fire Department. One of the local fire departments would have to apply as the host company.
If still in doubt, it is best to contact your regional specialist for an "official" ruling.
