Default NEW WORLD NFIR's Reporting Program

I have a NFIRS reporting question. Our communications center uses a NEW WORLD AS400 based CAD system. This has all the addresses, hydrants, run assignments etc in it. NEW WORLD has a NFIRS reporting package. This package pulls the data it needs from the CAD side and starts to fill in the NFIRS. All of this is done with the old black background “Green Screen”.

NEW WORLD has now developed what is a “sticky interface” between the green screen and a program that imitates “windows” with pull down menus etc. I believe it’s called New World MSP. The MSP stands for Microsoft Platform.

We are currently using Firehouse 6 for our NFIRS which works well and is easy to get data back out. The green screen version of NW took a computer services type and days to get data back.

Is anyone currently using New World for the NFIRS reporting? More specifically is anyone using or testing New World MSP at this time.

    If so………
What reporting NFIRS system are you using?

If you say New World would you please answer the following?

    1. Which New World reporting are you using?

    2. What is your submission / rejection of NFIRS rate like?

    3. Are you staying with New World Reporting?

    4. Are you looking to go elsewhere from New World?

    5. Did you leave New World reporting to use a different reporting software?

    6. If 3, 4 or 5 were yes, explain?

Gee, judging by the overwhelming response I'd say the MSP is a roaring success?

Well if it works as well as MS vista you might as well go back to dos and 5 1/2 inch floppy disc. our IT guy tried to get vista commercial client server something installed and after several hours dumped it and went back to XP. We are using firehouse 6. for all of our reporting.

    Default Recommendation

As a fire service and computer professional I recommend NOT upgrading your computers operating systems to Vista. Upgrading a computer's operating system is very intensive and pre-vista computers are for the most part not up to par for Vista.

If you purchase a new computer however, I would recommend buying a Vista system since one day that computer will HAVE to be upgraded to it.

As a business, I would put off Vista for at least its first major update or a year until it settles in. It is Windows most substantial upgrade of operating systems since Windows 95, if not ever.

One thing is certain though, no matter how much you like or hate Vista, you will be eventually using it for your Windows boxes.

My computer at work is dying and is being replaced. It will NOT have Vista. According to the IT Tech,Dell is offering an option as so many things don't work well with Vista.

    Default NFIRS Reporting Made Easy

What reporting NFIRS system are you using?

IMC (www.imcus.com) out of Grafton, Massachusetts - The company has the best NFIRS reporting as for ease of use and automatic fill from Dispatch.

If you say New World would you please answer the following?

    Switched to IMC

    1. Which New World reporting are you using?

    2. What is your submission / rejection of NFIRS rate like?
IMC has easy error checking and if there's a mistake, the program takes you directly to the page of the report where the mistake is. The error checking also tells you the exact field that is wrong and why.

    3. Are you staying with New World Reporting?

    Switched to IMC

    4. Are you looking to go elsewhere from New World?

Already did. IMC had the best Fire Management program and has been around for 20 years.

    5. Did you leave New World reporting to use a different reporting software?

    6. If 3, 4 or 5 were yes, explain?
