Coach Hits Bench 5 Hours After Giving Birth
Nebraska Coach Can't Get Team Into Tournament

    POSTED: 10:14 am EDT March 14, 2007

GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- College basketball coach Carol Russell hates to miss a game -- even to have a baby.

The University of Nebraska-Kearney coach was back on the bench this week about five hours after giving birth to her first baby.

And it was an away game.

Her players probably understand why Russell didn't stand the whole time as she usually does.

Russell said just about everyone in the University of North Dakota field house was doing double-takes when she walked in. While her stamina may have impressed her team, it wasn't enough to give them a win and a berth in the NCAA Division II tournament.

The Lopers went on to lose to North Dakota, 108-75.

    Talking

Maybe if she had given birth right there at the game it would have distracted the other team and they could have won.

Considering how much it hurt when I whacked my finger with the frigg'n hammer on Sunday, what happened to Fred woulda about KILLED me.... I dont like pain. It makes me feel very very ill...... and presents me like the poster child for a demonstration of SHOCK.

We all know coaching a basketball game is more important than the life of your child.

If that were my wife, she'd soon be an unmarried childless woman.

    Sorry, but that's pathetic.

That's women for you.My ex,if faced with the choice of catching a fly ball hit by Sammy Sosa or catching a falling infant from a two story drop, would go for the kid and never once consider if there was a man rounding third for home.
And people wonder why I divorced the daughter of a liquor store owner.
