Im looking into becoming a firefighter and would like to know the proper steps to starting. I live in the dallas, tx area so any info on academys or dept. in the surrounding cities would be great. Do i go to an academy or should i try to get on at a dept that has its own such as Dallas. Are some academys more respected than others or does it matter? Again any info for the dallas area would be great. Thanks guys

check out collin county community college, they are one of the best in he area...really doesn't matter where you go to fire school as long as you get your certification. Then go get your EMT basic, then your medic...Start applying now though. Good luck
