    Default New Pierce??

Just had our 1st meeting to spec a new engine. Local Pierce Rep said that there will be something new and exciting premiering at FDIC. They wouldn't elaborate any more though...anyone else heard of anything???

    Post New Pierce ????

They build Aluminum aerials in the 75' & 100 ' range so maybe a new platform of " NON STEEL " is in the works to compete with Sutphen & E-One ?

Personal opinion - FDIC is less than a month away. Pierce, with their very well done marketing, would have some sort of teaser campaign out by now. I'm sure they'll introduce something, but whether or not it will be groundbreaking, I doubt it...

Have I missed something in all the magazines?

I have a lot of friends that work for the Big P, and the only thing they're letting out of the bag is that it's going to be a new type of pumper design. They're pretty tight lipped on this one...

They just released a new pumper what the hell? Well to be specific it was a chasis so maybe some sort of new configuration? Like rear-mount vs. side mount vs. top mount, maybe a fourth type like station mount or lazyboy mount?

but will it truly be "something new" or just another old idea marketed as new and innovative...

It's not a new chassis, it's some type of new configuration.

And who's to say if it was their idea, or someone elses...

Ok, so after 3 hate mails, I will clarify my stance on this.

Pierce makes perfectly fine trucks and I have nothing against their trucks.

Pierce also has a very large marketing plan that I don't always "agree" with.

In my mind, their "marketing" has very little to do with the quality of their vehicles.

(there, will that make everyone happy?)

    There's only one problem.....

It's still gonna say "Pierce" on the side of it.

    Default Just what I've heard...

We have been looking at different pumper options (rescue vs. top) for the past 3 years know and our Pierce rep. has stated that it should fit towards the rescue pumper we have been looking at. Also questioned if it would be out of this world pricing for our department and it might not be to far off from the Contender line pricing. Hopefully he is right. Time will tell!!!!

6 months ago our rep said they were going to redesign the Lance Chassis. This might be related to FDIC.

Doubt it. Our Pierce dealer said the Lance is going away.

    Bones,

Sorry to hear you got "hate mail". I personally found nothing wrong with your original post.

I guess the "Whats the PUC" banner on the Pierce site has to do with new release. Whoever mentioned about a new body configuration is on track I believe, guess we'll see in a couple weeks

My money is sitting on some type of front mounted pump, be it PTO driven or otherwise. I remember hearing a rep speaking of something along these lines- but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Hhmmmmm.....PUC? could it be "pump under cab"? like the mid engine stuff from saulsbury and young years ago where the pump was under the cab driven from the front of the engine? The new pierce cabs were built for much more cooling because of the 2007 engines, maybe they were also built to accept a "pump under cab". Just a thought.

Good question, I expect it to be some sort of development of existing tech in a new configuration like that.
