I have a request from another department about helping to write a grant for a truck. They currently have a 1985 Hahn canopy cab engine and a home built 3200 gallon tanker. They have been DJ for a new tanker-pumper and new engine. They are wanting a mini-pumper or a type 3 urban interface truck. They want 4x4 1000 gpm pump. They want the big pump to be able to fill tankers from draft sites.
My question is what would get the best chance of getting funded. I know the highest score is for a vehicle which you don't already have one of. The type 3 will fall into the class with the engine, but the mini-pumper would fall into a class of which they do not have any trucks. I also saw, I think on E-One's web site, a truck they call the mini-pumper extreme with an option for up to a 1250 gpm pump on an International 4x4 chassis. Would this still be considered a mini-pumper under AFG.

From what you show me, your other department has the stats to replace their tanker under this year's selling points. A home built tanker is good points to an app. But in either case, whether mini-pumper, pumper, or tanker, what are the call volumes and area? This might shed some light on the DJ. And as always, it's in the narrative!
Good luck.BAClair

Call volume is less than 100 per year. Response area about 45 sq. miles. They auto and mutual aid to much of the county and some areas in adjoining counties.
