LSU Haz-Mat Awareness Class
Has anybody taken the Louisiana State University Haz-Mat awareness class and/or taken the certification test?
I am looking to get an idea of the difficulty of it before I take it so I can determine if I need to take the 8 hour course or just rely on my current training for the test.

I have it's great chalanging but great
I would take the class It is very usfull. I have taken the FF1 , Haz Mat AW and just recently have taken Haz Mat Op's, David the dude incharge of testing is kind of funny. He likes to have the guys go through the class for the ISTA certs. He also requires a valid CPR card and upto date practicals test. Most of the Haz Mat classes can be taken in series you can go to the FETI web site for the calender heres the link. http://feti.lsu.edu/
This is the link to the Haz Mat callender
I think that the classes are the best around, good luck I have some study matt for these classes.
P S The criteria has changed as of April You must have Haz AW and now have Haz OPs before you can take the FF1 test this is per ISTA
Any Questions KLDugas@bellsouth.net

I checked on the issue of needing Operations to certify as FF1, and was told that is a proposed change for the September 2007 release of NFPA 1001. It has not, however, been set in stone, although it will likely pass. I should have my FF1 certification completed before then. They just keep making it harder for the small vollie departments to meet the standards though. If that passes, I don't see most of our new members ever getting FF1 certified.
