Police: 5th Graders Charged After Classroom Sex
    Classroom Left Unsupervised

    POSTED: 8:08 pm EDT April 3, 2007

NEW ORLEANS -- Five Louisiana fifth-graders were arrested Tuesday after an investigation into allegations that students had sex in an unsupervised classroom.

Union Parish Sheriff Bob Buckley said after 44 years of doing this work, nothing shocks him anymore but this comes pretty close. The alleged incident took place March 27 at the Spearsville school in rural north Louisiana.

Four students -- two 11-year-old girls, a 12-year-old boy and a 13-year-old boy -- were arrested on charges of obscenity, a felony. Buckley said an 11-year-old boy who was the alleged lookout was charged with being an accessory after the fact.

The school has grades kindergarten through 12.

On the day the incident took place, an assembly for sixth- through 12th-graders was called to discuss a stabbing death in which a 15-year-old Spearsville student was accused. The fifth-grade class of about 15 students normally would have been supervised by a high school teacher during that time. But, Buckley said the teacher was at the assembly, and the class was inadvertently left unattended.

The investigation showed that two males and two females had sex in the classroom while the 11-year-old boy acted as a lookout. The incident came to light the next day when a student who had been in the classroom told a high school student, who then informed a teacher.

The students were booked and then released to their parents custody. Buckley said it's unclear what a juvenile would face in penalties if convicted. For adults, however, conviction on obscenity in the presence of someone under 17 carries a $10,000 fine and from two to five years in prison.

    8th-Grader Faces Terrorism Charge
Ariz. Teen Accused Of Planning To Hold Class Hostage

    POSTED: 1:55 am EDT April 4, 2007
    UPDATED: 2:03 am EDT April 4, 2007

MESA, Ariz. -- An eighth-grader faces a terrorism charge for confronting a girl with a knife and later being found with a backpack full of restraining devices and weapons, a prosecutor said.

The 14-year-old told police he planned to hold his class hostage, Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas said Monday.

When the teen was arrested two weeks ago, county officials said he had plotted a "Columbine-like" scenario, comparing his plans to the 1999 deadly shooting massacre at Colorado's Columbine High School.

The teen also was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and kidnapping, as well as a misdemeanor count of carrying a weapon on school grounds, Thomas said Monday.

He will be tried as an adult, said Barnett Lotstein, a spokesman for Thomas.

The boy was arrested March 23. Police said they discovered weapons in his backpack, including a .25-caliber handgun loaded with a full clip of bullets and one in the chamber, plus a box of 28 rounds of ammunition, Mesa Police spokeswoman Diana Tapia said.

Police also found three large knives, a lock, a metal chain and two rolls of duct tape in the backpack, Tapia said.

A woman identifying herself as the boy's mother told a radio station that she believes her son was crying out for help and that authorities are overreacting.

"We as parents will do everything in our power to get him back in the juvenile system, so he can get the care and pay an appropriate penalty," said the woman, who identified herself as Denette Reed in an interview with a local radio station.

Police said they were alerted by a girl who said the boy confronted her with a knife.

Holly Hosac, another Mesa police spokeswoman, said the teen was a good student but apparently had trouble with another boy at school.

Thats just wrong on so many levels. Wow
If someone with multiple personalities threatens to kill himself, is it considered a hostage situation?

Man Pleads Guilty To Punching Girl After Crash
    Girl Was Knocked Out

    POSTED: 6:42 am EDT April 13, 2007

HAGERSTOWN, Md. -- A man who punched an 11-year-old girl in the head, knocking her unconscious, after a traffic accident will spend two years in prison.

Steven Gossard, 23, pleaded guilty Thursday in Washington County Circuit Court to two counts of second-degree assault. He received two five-year sentences, with all but two years suspended.

Gossard was a passenger in a car driven by Alisha Nicewarner when she pulled into the path of the other car. During the ensuing fight, Gossard punched an 11-year-old girl who was riding in the other car, knocking her out and leaving her lying unconscious in the middle of the road.

Nicewarner also pleaded guilty to second-degree assault and driving while intoxicated. She is pregnant and due in July, and she'll serve her four-month sentence on home detention.

I have had interactions with a 13 year old who was 6 months pregnant. WHile disgusting, what exactly did these kids do wrong?

I know at 12 years old I was just trying to figure what that "itch" was down in the junk, let alone figuring the rest of it out.

Not much surprizes me any more. Not much at all.

Well, This type of event isn't anything new. It's been a Loooooong time since I was in School, but if you only believed 10% of the stories making the rounds back then (the 1950's) sex was no less an interesting subject then than it is now. One thing that has changed is that a 16 year old boy who had a sexual encounter with a female teacher at his school is called a victim now, back when I was in school he was called Lucky.
