    Default NJ Investigations?

Can anyone tell me how to get into Fire Investigations in NJ?

I know there is a State Fire Marshall's office, but how often do they hire and what are the requirements.

I also know that NJSP has Arson investigators, but I think you need to be hired as a trooper first.

Anyone know local/county investigators and their hiring process?

I would contact the NJ Division of Fire Safety for info.

There are numerous county's throughout the state that have full-time paid investigator positions. Camden County, Ocean County etc...

The Dept of Criminal Justice runs a 3 week course at Sea Girt (State Police grounds).

    Good Luck

The National Fire Academy has an excellent program - R205 / Fire & Arson Investigation.

    Have fun.

Some towns do their own fire investigations through their own fire department.

Some towns do their own fire investigations through their own police department.

Some towns have the investigations done by a separate fire bureau.

Some towns have the investigations done by the County.

Some towns have the investigations done by the State.

Isn't that clear as mud? Welcome to NJ.
