I am a Basic, who is 5 months into a Medic program. I plan on getting my 240 card when medic school is over.

Look all around you, they are everywhere. Unforunately a 240 and a medic card is nothing special in NEO. Don't rule out private ambulance services either. The work isn't the most glamorous, but the experience is good. Most NEO departments advertise civil service tests on cleveland.com, and for pt/volly, you just apply.

For the most part in the Akron area I think you need to be a medic first. A lot of those departments are combo departments.

FireIce22,
Well, let me start by saying that it's tough to get on part-time or full-time anywhere in the Akron area. However, you're on the right track being 5 months into your medic. I would start by applying to Coventry, Fairlawn, Copley, and Springfield. These are all long shots for part-time, but definitely worth filling out an application. Also Lakemore and Hartville have been known to hire part-time quite frequently, so give them a shot.
I forgot to ask where you live. I'm assuming you live in the city of Akron. Akron should have a civil service test coming up pretty soon. If you do live in the city, I believe you get 15% bonus on the written. If you have you're medic cert by then I also think you get 10% for that.
