    Question Fixed Air Compressor Compliance??

I am applying for a fixed station breathing air compressor and mobile cascade system. When you get to the budget details per unit it asks about

    Statuatory compliance

    Voluntary compliance NFPA etc

Does anyone know of the correct codes, or is it not a compliant but we really need it anyway?

NFPA & OSHA are voluntary. Code titles are on nfpa.org, cascades & compressors are #1989.

Yep. OSHA is voluntary until someone gets hurt, then your ***** be toast. Same with NFPA being just a 'recommendation' until someone gets hurt. Statutory means if you don't do it you go to jail just for not doing it. So if the state passed a law requiring 2in/2out, or fitted masks, or something like that, then that you would have to do it or get fined/jailed because of it. Outranks voluntary obviously. Very little is statutory, only a handful of states I can think of have anything that's law over us as far as equipment goes.

Ohio has the "Ohio Revised Code", would this be consider a statutory requirement. It states that we must provide Class "D" breathing air.
