    It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Battalion Chief/EMS Director Joseph E. Newsome of IAFF Local 2803 Chesterfield County, Virginia. Brother Newsome, 40, died Monday, April 23, 2007 during his required fitness training.

    Visitation will be held today, Wednesday, April 25, 2007 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian, Virginia 23113, (804) 794-1000. The funeral will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. at the Crestwood Presbyterian Church, 1200 Charter Colony Parkway, Midlothian, Virginia 23114, (804) 897-3458.

    All fire department personnel are requested to assemble for the funeral at 3:30 p.m. Details will follow regarding shuttle transportation. PLEASE DO NOT BRING FIRE APPARATUS AS THERE WILL BE NO PROCESSION.

    Default Joseph Newsome Memorial

    My condolences to the Newsome family and the Chesterfield Fire and EMS Department of Virginia. Captain Joseph Newsome, 40, an 18 year veteran of the Chesterfield Fire and EMS Department, died Monday April 23, 2007. Joseph died during his required fitness training.
