Well, since I'm almost done writing grants for awhile, lets see who can make the best prediction on the total number of applications for FY2007. The total number should have exceeded prior years by now. My number of applications tripled. I think everyone was scared off this year. Looks like only ~4,000 so far from the other thread.
FY2002 - 19,599
FY2003 - 20,136
FY2004 - 20,367
FY2005 - 20,972
FY2006 - 18,160
My Guess for FY2007 - 12,634

When you say evil swing, you mean it!! This is a stupid game! Someone else got the credit for winning this one last year, but when the final numbers came out from DHS, I was the real winner. I am still waiting for my prize!!
I also believe that a lot of departments were pushed back because of the call stats that they had to do. For once a low call volume was beneficial.
I am going to predict that this number will take off and come in at an even 20,000.

I think to many people got scared off or got tired of the paper work (information) that was required.

I was only going to post one application this year for a vehicle, but with the numbers appearing to be so low, I am tempted to put in for the scba replacement that we were planning to pursue next year.

unless something drastic changes in the next three days I'll guess 19,250 max.

You got that right Ryan!! At the moment--it's nothing, but by July 1....it's a shiny new truck!! Thought i was gonna get some Hank's Birch Beer out of imafireman, but i'll take the 500 gallon brush hawg instead.
earl (Bob, let's up that bid to 5%. Goning once, going twice...)

No whammies, no whammies big bucks STOP!! I've got about 150 more that will be in by Friday morning, and I've noticed a big slowdown in the server reaction time since last week. Lots of input going on. I think we'll break 25,000. Almost everyone I'm working with is going in on two, and a handful at 3. Definitely will be a new game, that's for sure. Of course, no time to waste after Friday, since I'm sure you all caught the underground news that FP&S 2007 will open in June instead of SAFER? Awards in time for Fire Prevention week? Anyone else hear that? Or is that just the voices in my head from 3 hours of sleep a night for 3 weeks with M&Ms, pizza, and Mountain Dew on top? I picked the wrong week to quit amphetamines....

Now that my winning grant application has been submitted, I'll venture to guess........20,839.
