Bad news for FY2008 Funding ???

I attended a training seminar yesterday in Lehigh, PA. The main speaker was Mr. Corey Gruber, Assistant Secretary of the Office of Grants and Training for DHS.

In the packet of information that he passed out was some interesting information....

For FY2007 the AFG program will award $629 million...

For FY2008 the budget request to Congress is only $300 million.

I have seen that they have been cutting back the program every year. But, if this stays at this amount....that's a huge cut!

Has anybody else heard anything about this large of a cut in overall funding?

Same game every year. President reduces the funding in his budget, Congress increases it. A never ending cycle.

As I recall FY07 started out at $100 so is a 300% increase!

Not likely to go away. The industry has too much invested in the program. Who would buy $6500 SCBA without firegrant $?

BC79er's department. They have budget. No wonder he had to get a job as a grant writer--his own dept didn't need him for free!!

They've been cutting this program back since the year after it hit $750m, it was supposed to go to $1B. Get the letters out to your elected officials and let them know how wrong this is!!
