    Default More SCBA

My company only has 6 SCBA for the entire company. They are under 10 years old and we are just looking at getting 6 more so more people can wear one. Does this have a chance of being funded?

You won't be allowed to replace those under 10 years of age and you are only allowed to have one per seated position on your structural firefighting apparatus.

Its not cast in stone, so to speak. Looking at only having 6 sets, I am making a guess here that they are rural and not very high call volume. The ten year mark is where I find 98% of the application I do getting funded at. Now if you were an urban department using the SCBA on 1000 calls a year, then obviously it is going to wear out faster and I am sure they would replace it. The typical cost benefit formula is based upon an expected service life of ten years, so using that figure is reasonable to assume. I play the numbers here and my past funded apps say you get funded if it is ten years of age; your mileage may vary!
