    Question ARFF Classes

    i was talking to a fellow nj firefighter yesterday and he said if i really would like to get into the full time firefighting i should shoot for ARFF, so my question is are their any ARFF firefighters on here from new jersey that could give me any help, and also if any classes are comming up on ARFF?? any help would be awsome. thanks

    Call your buddy back and ask him just which facilities have ARFF units. I think you would find that there are even fewer than there are career FD's in NJ. Also, to my knowledge, they are broken down into three distinct groups. Either they are career law enforcement units run by the PANYNJ, they are staffed by federal or military FF or they are staffed by low paid security guards in the rare event they are needed.

    If your buddy knows something different, it may be the best kept secret in NJ.

    Question

    dose they offer the ARFF classes??? and ifso do you know how i go about getting some info on them??

    R/M is the only private employer that i know of. there's pro-tech at mercer airport too ut that's the security thing too.

    the only classes that i know of are run by Bucks County Fire Academy with Fort Monmouth. that one was a few weeks ago. i don't even know of any others in the area

    I worked with a firefighter named Krebs in Lubbock, TX several years ago. He was from the east coast and prob in his 60's by now. Any relation???

    not that i know of... the only relatives i have south of the m-d line are in athens ga, but he's not a firefighter

    ARFF classes can be found on dodfire.com under the training available tab. You need your IFASC or Pro-Board certs for FF2 and Haz Mat Ops to get in. You can get your FF2 and Haz Mat stuff from fire academies or entry level DOD firefighter jobs.

    Default ARFF Classes

    We provide the following ARFF Classes in Everett, WA.

    Annual Live Fire Refresher - Sept. 12, 2007 (Daytime Operations)
    Sept. 19, 2007 (Nighttime Operations)

    40 Hour ARFF - Basic/Recurrent Training - Sept. 24 to 28, 2007

    IFSAC Airport Fire Fighter - Oct. 29 to Nov. 2, 2007

    All classes meet FAR part 139. Classes are held at the Snohomish County Airport in Everett, WA., and cover all 3 categories of aircraft.
    All live fire is conducted at the Washington State Fire Academy in North Bend, WA. Index A thru E props and using Jet-A fuel.
