    Default Zero Interest Truck Loans

Any word on how this grant is coming along? If I remember correctly, the first one was delayed several times.

    Just curious

The small equipment grant awards were just announced this week, and the application deadline for the 0 percent loans was one month after the small equipment apps, so hopefully we'll be hearing something about a month from now, but that's just a guess.

The last time I talked to Don Moffitt, he told me that he was trying to get money into the budget to add to the loan program. There was over one million in it, but Don has been trying since the program went into effect to have more money added. I will see him next Monday and will be sure to ask.

CR, did ya see the paper yesterday? New tax going to this program? $1 a pak might make me quit, how about the $10 on the big stogies? Gotta love Blowjo.

It's going to be cheaper to buy a plane ticket to Dominican Republic, roll them, buy them and bring them back.
If smoking is an "addiction", then why does the price of the "medicine" keep going up?

    How about truck give away?

We purchased a new engine and are giving away our 1986 Pierce Arrow to the Smithfield Fire Prot. District. I'm sure they will get many more years of service from it.

I think we may have too...I'm out of town, but I got a call from one of the trustees saying that we'd gotten something in the mail from the Fire Marshal's Office and the Illinois Finance Authority...sounds like good news, but I won't be back in town to check it out until Monday.

    Thumbs down

We got our rejection letter from OSFM Saturday. On the bright side, we got the 10 questions from AFG on an engine last week.

Hey free money from DHS is better than free interest from the state! Congratulations!

We did get our loan award letter this weekend...time for a new tanker!

Congratulations, Cap. I agree that a basically free one will be better than a loan for the whole thing.
Will the new engine fit in the old station? Sorry for asking.

    Jack,
We have specs on trucks that will fit. We might have to eliminate the door . We are hoping that the referendum will pass in Feb this time so we might be under construction before we get the truck. Then again, we haven't been awarded yet.

Something tells me at least a couple of the guys with proposals in (or coming in) will do whatever it takes to provide you a new pumper that will fit in the door, short of building you a new building. I have a sawzall at my disposal...

    Any other volunteers?...Nick?

The meeting room might have to shrink, or a new sky light
We just got the 1199 update for LDH today too.

I was just about to fire some shots at Nick, but you know... Too hard on a forum to express the humor that it would be intended to be, and I like the guy enough that I wouldn't want people to take some good natured ribbing the wrong way.

I do hear he has weak ankles though. He'll probably try to blame that on me.

    Cap:

I think that if you back up any apparatus fast enough that door size really doesn't matter, it is simple physics.....

    and Joel.....

I will take my shots at you in person and my ankle feels great. Note to self: Don't help Joel with any classes!

Cap, I've got a nail gun and a compressor. Might even be able to find some nails to fit it.

You know, you're always looking for excuses not to get roped in to help with classes... We're doing searches in an abandoned foundry, have a couple of houses to use, and doing our final burn hopefully in an acquired house. Lots of places to hurt the other ankle Nick. You know you want to help.

That "hit it hard or fast enough" comment could only come from a truckie, and I guess if you're on a quint 12 hours a day, you qualify... I think.

    Jack:
    You don't raise the roof.
    You lower the floor.
    I thought everyone knew that.
Talked to Moffitt Sunday nite for about an hour. He is still trying to find a new revenue stream for zero interest. He thinks he's found one, but I am not at liberty to say.
I am told that the Gov reads this forum!
Check that; he can't read. He has one of his aides read it to him.
There; spoken like a true Republican.
