From what I've heard it's a nice little department. Runs about 1000 calls/year, very little of that being EMS. They work a 24 hour shift and are responsible for the entire preservation as well as mutual aid to the surrounding towns. Salary isnt that bad... a lot better then some departments in the New Haven/Fairfield counties.

I work with a guy who used to be there and he has nothing but bad stuff to say. There is no job security. No UNION, nothing. If a tribal member wants a job low man get ousted, no questions asked. Not a place i would want to work.

Yes, the Foxwoods is in stage 2 of their hiring process. I had a lengthy conversation with Human Resources today. They told me that the pay is based on experience. I am not understanding... Everyone has to have experience because it's a requirement to get the job. How are they determining the pay??? On a month by month or year by year basis of experience?? What is the most/least they are willing to start new FFs at??? Does anyone know how many they called back for 2nd interviews? Just seems like a lot of information is unknown.

    Default MPFD 2nd Interviews

Anyone have any feedback about 2nd interviews? I had mine bright and early this morning. It was interesting to say the least.... I asked the golden question "How much does a FF make as a starting salary?" and the panel laughed, looked back at me, and said "great question but we have no clue." What is up with this place that no one can give a straight answer about the pay??? It is nice that MPFD says he makes $60k per year but I find it hard to believe that a department that see no fires is going to pay that as a starting salary to a new FF.

Also, I found it a little strange that the chief is yet to be seen. Anyone think there will be a 3rd interview required to meet with the chief? I just can't figure out the point of interviewing with a bunch of fire protection guys that said they "have no clue how the firefighting hiring is done, we are just here to ask interview questions and record responses."

Just looking for some feedback. Thanks.

At Pratt we start off at 47,000 and we see NO fire, except the occasional antique machine cook off. I interviewed at 1000 and was blown away by the questions. It was one of those interviews that I walked away from not knowing what had just happened.

17.50 at 48 hours a week equals out to be $840 a week, which would equal out to be around $43K if you get 17.50 for the full 48 hours.

If anything after 40 hours is overtime, the weekly turns out to be $910 a week which is equal to $47K.

MPFD11 which of these two example do you think is most accurate?
