Im gonna be up there to take the test. I called a couple of weeks ago and they said that they are going to send out informaion after today (since the apps close today). So give them about a week and you should get a letter telling you about the test

    Default Not me

I am going to call them today after the mail runs to see when they will be sending out the letters. Have you taken the test before?

Flipper do you know how many people they are looking to take? Also on average how many people show up to take these test. Is it about the same as a department like Seattle where 2500 took the test?

of course anything I say is totally un-official., and may just be from a drunk psychopath. If anything is incorrect, don't try telling the Chief that "you read it online..."

based on the last 4-5 years, there has been a class of anywhere from 10-20 hired once a year.
There have been times in the past when 2 classes were hired, although its been awhile.
I have heard numbers from 500-1000 actually sit for the test.
Hiring is not in strict order of placement-there is a certain amount of leeway allowed by civil service rules.
Factors such as background,bi-lingual,EMT,etc all are considered.
The physical, if you are unaware, is possibly one of the more challenging in the area.

The 100ft charged 2 1/2 drag seems to cause some trouble.
Please use the practice times if possible, it's a good chance to meet some of the people in addition to running through the course.

    Good Luck

What's the progress on the relocation of Station 15?

    Is Commencement's refit complete yet?

15's currently runs out of the "new" station during daylight hours, as its not ready for sleeping. Having some trouble getting the slab poured for the engine too. They go back to the tideflats every night at 1900.
The boat work is a long process, I think I heard next year, but really have no idea.

So those guys get to skedaddle before the knife and gun clubs really open for business. I imagine there is a bit of shuffling out of the guys who had parked at (old) 15's looking for peace and quiet.

Thanks for the update. I grew up in Tacoma and it will always have a special place in my heart.

    Default study guide

I've talked to a few people who have taken the test (and gotten job offers from TFD) and they all say you need to know the book VERBATIM from cover to cover.

I've read through it four times, have read it all into a tape recorder and have flashcarded everything and STILL don't feel ready.

I'm in Chicago right now; going to spend Wednesday typing up every question I could possibly think of and then quiz myself (and a few others who are taking it) relentlessly Thursday - Monday.

I've also heard 90% is the about the passing line...
