Protien shakes aren't "supplements", they're simply condensed food. I've put on over 80lbs. over the past eight years and still have visible abs. Did I use protein shakes during this time? Every single damn day!
Lifting weights will not do a single thing for you if you don't eat as hard as you lift. Some people build muscle just looking at a weight stack, you're not one of them. Eat lots and eat often. Adding protien shakes a couple of times a day (in ADDITION to eating) will go along way to helping you gain quality weight.

Make your protine shakes out of pancake mix and you are guaranteed to put on weight.
