    Default Protein Shakes

Do any of you guys do protein shakes? I tried a chocolate flavored GNC product but i hated it. I tried adding peanut butter or ice to help but i just couldnt take it. A lot of people say your supposed to just take it but then i hear from other people that their protein shakes taste great. If any of you have any preferences, recepies, or ideas on how to make a protein shake tolerable let me know. Thanks

how to make a protein shake tolerable
The best way? Don't drink them. Eat real food instead.

ok...For skinny guys like me its not easy gaining weight with a High metabolism...First of all dont use the shakes or supplements they dont do any good...Second this is gonna sound like a pain but you have to count your calories for guys like me i need anywhere from 3,000 to 6,000 calories A DAY to gain weight...lift weights but dont hurt yourself REST REST REST i cannot stress that enough...what good are you doing if you are tearing your muscles apart and not allowing them to heal ?

thats just a lil tip from me

Yeah man, definitely hit the weight room. I just started Dr. Jen's workout program. It's great. The firefighter specific exercises left me really sore. It's a little steep, but you'd gain muscle mass out the wazoo...and we could all use more mass in the wazoo, haha.

I tried Designer Whey's chocolate protein powder and its the best I've had so far. I've tried some others and they do taste like well...s***. I added a banana for carbs and a couple of frozen berries for flavor/coldness without making it watery, but that's just me. I got it at a local Vitamin Shoppe, but GNC may also carry it.

    Good luck!

My first suggestion would be to eat more foods high in protein. Do a little research on diet with your personal goals in mind. When that's not possible I use NytroWhey....

No lie! Walmart's Six Star Whey Protien is actually good. The chocolate is much better than vanilla.

If you are going to drink them please use water instead of milk. Everyone in the house doesn't want to smell your *** all day.

    Aaron,

There are several good items out there. Since you came on here asking for advice, I will not assume as others have, that you don't already have a good diet and exercise routine. If you do not, start there. Your diet is key to building the body you want. Whether it is muscle mass, or leaning out what you have. ALWAYS begin with what you eat. Eat smaller meals, but more of them and be very careful with liquid calories. (That's the REALLY short answer) There are many places to find guidance on these things.

Everyone has a different formula for working out, but listening to things like this, http://www.goarmy.com/downloads/cadence_jukebox.jsp while working out like this http://www.crossfit.com/ and keeping things in perspective with an ocassional visit to http://www.coachferguson.com is a great formula for me.

If you already have these things in place then read on.

To add to what you are already doing there are thousands of protein powders on the market and many are very similar in their composition. The one that I drink is found here. http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/myo/myo.htm

Hope some of this helps and you can reach your goal.

First of all, stay away from GNC. Their products are WAY overpriced.

What kind of a "protein shake" are you looking for? Are you looking for a post-workout shake, a meal replacement shake, or just a good tasting protein shake to add a few grams of protein to your daily intake? Let me know specifically what you are looking for and I'll help you out.

if you want to gain mass, then try BSN True Mass. ive been taking 2 scoops a day, before and after a workout (i also work out 5 times a week), and have gained about 7 lbs in a little over a month. gained weight but kept my body fat the same, so thats something to me. its about $40 and should last you about a month and a half. chocolate is very good and has a great about of calories and protein. i use mine as a meal replacement, instead of breakfast i just drink a shake. very filling. a common recommendation is to take in 1 1/2 to 2 grams of protein per pound of body weight. that should help you gain some weight, just make sure to keep working out.

Guys gotta remember if your tall and skinny or just skinny and you have a high metabolic rate you REALLY need to do research...esp. since most products are geared towards that have mass to them as it is
