WINCHESTER, Ky. -- Kentucky is sending reinforcements to Florida to assist with fighting wildfires.
Eleven additional wildland firefighters and five engine units are leaving Thursday morning from the U.S. Forestry Service at the Daniel Boone National Forest in Winchester to replace the first group that departed two weeks ago.
The first group is completing a 14-day assignment and the new group will relieve them. The first group of firefighters will return to Kentucky Friday.
The Kentucky firefighters will be assisting with wildfires in north-central Florida, where many wildfires continue to burn out of control.
