Default Thanks to all our military people

Just wanted to say thanks to all our brothers and sisters who have served or are serving this great nation. Never forget those who gave their lives for the freedoms we have. To most, Momorial Day is a three day weekend, Most do not stop and think about those who have given their lives for our liberties.

Most do not think about the firefighters and police officers who have given their lives "SO OTHERS MAY LIVE" . Please reflect on our brothers and sisters this weekend... Thanks again and be safe out there...

I'll second the earlier sentiments with a simple thank you to all who have helped to keep this fine country of ours free.

At dinner tonight, I asked my two youngest kids (9 & 12) if they learned anything about Memorial Day in school. It was unanimous-not one damn thing. We had a long discussion about the relatives they have who served and about how this country would have been different w/o the unselfish sacrifice of the people who serve in our military. It's a shame how this country has come to take these brave men and women for granted-me included.

    Thanks for posting this thread.

    Thanks Plisken.

Here's a little story I'd like to share (virtually meaningless and insignificant, but it affected me when I saw this earlier today):

About 940 this evening when I was getting ready to go out, a saw an older gentleman walking down my sidewalk and stopping every so often. He would stop, walk some more, stop, then walk some more. I was wondering if he was inebriated or ill or something but then as I drove down my street I passed him and saw that he was placing american flags at the end of all the driveways on our street. Well it took me about 3 houses to stop, then I turned around and thanked him for doing that. He seemed so honored that someone appreciated what he did. The rest of the night I could not help but think about how great of a country we live in and how proud I am to be an American.
