I know. Most of you don't really care, and intrisically, neither do I - I try as much as possible to stay off the 95 at the best of times. Oh wait. I dont even have a car now... but I digress. The reason for this post is for those poor folks who are intending to travel up this way over the weekend and for those who HAVE to travel this way.....

SPRINGFIELD, Va. -- The Virginia Department of Transportation is planning to shut down the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 for part of the weekend, causing a detour and delays.

The closure at Franconia Road near the flyover bridge to the Outer Loop of the Capital Beltway will send traffic on a six-mile detour, transportation officials said.

Closing the highway will allow for necessary repairs to an overpass.

Cars and trucks will be diverted onto Interstate 395 and then back toward the Beltway during the closure.

The detour is set from 8 p.m. Saturday through 10 a.m. Sunday.

Signs will mark the detour route, but motorists are urged to avoid the area if possible.
