Hi all,
17 years service, Road Traffic Accident, USAR, Rope Rescue specialist.
Our brigade Extrication team are WRO champions:

Just found these forums, very intersting, lots of good info here.
Been looking for a change for a while, looking at going to Australia or the US, but despite the fact I have many skills to offer, it looks like the USA may well be difficult to get into?.
I know Grant Mishoe ( sp? ) posts here a fair bit, if you are looking Grant, I was one of the Scottish firefighters you coversed with via email etc, during our pay dispute in the UK, when you highlighted our plight on SCONFIRE.
Best regards,
Gaz.

Welcome from Queensland, Australia!
You mentioned wanting a change, not sure if you mean a full time job or a 12mth exchange. I know QFRS (queensland) has an exchange program up and running, not sure what is required.
pm me if you would like me to check anything out for you.

Thanks for the welcome fellas, its appreciated.
Landy, thanks for the offer of help. Kinda thought about an exchange but not really sure if thats what I want to do. I will look into it.
The US is where I would really like to look into, although from what I have read in a few other threads on here, its almost impossible to break into from the UK because of the restrictions placed upon entry to and working in the country. A pity, but those are the rules I guess.
A couple of our guys from my brigade have done it recently and one of them is out there in Aus now as a full time firefighter as a result of the exchange. Cant remember where abouts he ended up, but he was an ex-member of the same extrication team that won the WRO.

Hi Grant,
Nice to hear from you again.
Well, since we last conversed, after 9/11 and the London bombings, my station has become the "hub" for USAR ops in our area.
A couple of the guys have been over to Texas to train and report back to cascade the training down to us at station level.
We are all on level 2 of Rope Rescue and I'm about to embark on a rope rescue instructors course this year.
Small world indeed!!!.
I'll shoot you off an email soon.
Hope you are doing well, Sconfire site still looking good!!!
Best regards,
Gaz. ( Gaz30k_at_aol.com ).
