Question West Metro, CO Hiring list

Has anyone heard what candidate number West Metro is up to on their current hiring list?

Also, anyone know how many academies they're planning on running?

    Thanks!

    DSMtuned,
Just heard from HR today, they gave out conditional offers to I believe 12 candiates. I don't know what number on the hiring list they had to pull from to get that many I was number 10. I have heard rumors of hiring 24 people off this list maybe more. They were talking about having a spring academy with another 12, but I am sure all of this is up for debate. I know they are putting on a new tower and a new medic unit so that is at least 15 people for all three shifts. Best of luck to you. I will let you know if I hear about anything further in the future.

    firefighter1126,

Well first off, congratulations on the job offer!! Good work!

I have heard similar rumors about West Metro hiring 24 for the upcoming August academy. I also heard from one of their firefighters that there will be 4 academies coming up, the one in August, one in March, August 2008, and March 2008.

Like you say, I know West Metro is putting a few new apparatus into service and there is a possibility of them expanding into other areas now covered by volunteer departments.

I'm sure you know how these rumors go... I'm sitting between candidate number 60 and 70, so if West Metro does hire as many as the rumors say, there is a strong possibility I'll get a call. I sure hope so, because this is the department I have always wanted to work for!

Thanks for the info and best of luck!

    DSMtuned,

The best of luck to you, actually you are not sitting at a bad spot at all. I just had a buddy go through their academy last go around and I believe he was ranked in the mid 80's and I think they did not hire nearly as many people of that list as they are planning to hire off of this list. I know the waiting game is hard, but like you said West Metro is a great department and well worth the wait. I hope to see you at West Metro in the future.
