Default Do you have what it takes?

So, little Johnny wants to be a fireman… well that’s cute, but let’s take a moment and think about what that means. Ok, you want to ride down the fire pole and pull cats out of trees, la dee frickin da… or maybe you like dalmations, goodness knows I do. You’re all pumped up… “Look at me world!” You say to yourself. “Here I come! I’m gonna do it!“ Well….. guess what….. Snap out of it, junior! We aint talking bout the Tonka trucks you got for Christmas. This is the real deal, and you’re gonna have to leave your precious little toys at home. I’m hear to tell you how. First, go get your EMT-Basic card. That’s where ya start. Don’t come crying to me when you can’t even get that little patch on your jacket that says you know how to give somebody an asprin. Welcome to Realworld 101… there are no textbooks, and it aint no frickin fairy tale. Just get out there, do your time, and stop your moanin. Aint nothing to it, and you may just get there.

Ohhohhh, can you tell us about, "the School of Hard-Knocks"? How about, "the University of Life"?

Is this the "real deal" and am I "not in Kansas anymore"?

Do "young whipersnappers" not understand "blood, sweat and tears"?

Do you write copy for Chevy truck ads?

Your message and tone MIGHT be appropriate when addressing a group of fourth-graders, assuming they were the slow class.

It is just plain silly when directed to an audience of firefighters, who have experienced much of life themselves.

Talk about making no sense and confusing. Where is the middle of the story all it has a is very very short start and finish. A comic is more of a complete story than this. This story doesnt even have a why or what in the world your talking about. I think my IQ dropped a few points just reading it trying to figure out why your so mad at the world today. You should try exercising or getting a hobby that doesnt frustrate you like you are today posting something that doesnt make sense to anybody but you. Like a non-speaking English person thats in a room of people that speak english and you talking for 5 mins in your native tongue having everybody confused thinking WTF are you talking about. But thats just me. Let me know if im wrong

So I stand corrected... didn't know there were so many smart people in the room... I can't quite tell, but is that Dennis the menace or is it Albert Einstein? I don't have my bifocals on today... Looky here.... you don't need to listen to me, but if you join the FD thinkin that it's gonna be like goin to Chuckee Cheez, you're gonna be surprised to find it aint no picnic. Just a little motivation.

Jackass. This is firehouse.com. Not firewannabes.com. Try your babble somewhere else. Considering the emotions that most of us have went through in the past few days, your posts are beyond disrespectful.

What do you think this is ?

People who arent in the fire service ? People that dont fight fires ? People that just Lie about being in a department and buy gear and such ?

NO. 98% of us are in the fire service that other 2% is either wanting to be in or you have the other 1% that i just dont know what they are.

If you wish to disrespect please take it elsewhere to another site dont EVER come in here and try and bash us thinking FOR THE MOST PART we arent firefighters or in the fire service some way!!!

Spunky, it IS disrespectful and handle what? You sign up to participate in the forums, log in, and make your first post, and insult just about every jake you possibly can. This snot nose newbie 18 year old gung ho drivel is not the place or the time. You tell the departments and the families of Charleston and FDNY welcome to Realworld 101 and see what you get. Instead of reading and learning here you decide to come in and show everybody what a big girl you are and how you can handle being a "fireman". I cannot comprehend just exactly what you thought you would accomplish by posting that trash. Instead of asking questions to learn or discussing firefighting topics to expand knowledge, you come in here and tell everyone here just how "tough" it is like you're speaking to a bunch of 6th graders and not experienced firefighters. Most of us here already know how it is. We don't need to be told. I apologize if I seem harsh but like eaglesrule1024 said you couldn't have picked a worst time to come in here with that stuff.

    Default My deepest apologies.

Lighten up there fellaz... I even apologized to the webteam for adding a humorous touch in how I express things. I didn't mean for y'all to get all bent out of shape. When I wrote that, I had no intentions of connecting it to Charleston or any other tragedy, that's a connection other people made. I have nothing but respect for that, and I'd appreciate not being taken out of context anymore. My advice, take 2 chill pills, call me in the morning.

I was going so send you a PM or a email, but apparently you don't want to hear from anyone. Like it or not, you are now hearing from me. A few points:

    1. As I type this, your post count sits at 19, but I see the phrase "My Advice" appearing in the post. Who asked for your advice?

    2. This Forum is an area where people of all sizes, shapes, colors, etc. come together with one common interest - To learn from each other. What have we learned from you so far? And, what have you learned from us? The fact that you seem to have already had an exchange with the Webteam speaks volumes.

    3. ALL of us, Paid, Volunteer, Firefighters, Officers, etc. readily welcome ANYONE who wants to be a part of our family. However, we can also disown a troublemaker just as well.

    4. Reading is the second best learning tool in life. (The best is peeing on the electric fence yourself) May I respectfully suggest that you take some time and read through some of these threads and learn about how life is, here on these forums.

I am not mad, and I don't expect to be. Experience does tell me that my comments in this post do reflect the opinions of a lot of the regulars here, and that if you wish to be one of us, we welcome you. However, if you want to assume the role of "Jackass of the week" We'll do what we can to help.
