I am going to be taken my practical skills evaluation for FF1 certification with LSU in the next month or so. Has anybody been through this recently in Louisiana and can give me a general idea of what to expect, and do they try to trick you up any?

I know its not LSU but I just got my FF 1&2 in AZ and there was no hint of trickery. You asked for a general idea of what to expect, expect everything and anything. Everything was pretty straight forward and was pulled from a hat by the state fire marshal. I would assume that is a standard practice nationwide. The way it was for my academy was the instructors were trying to trip us up or get us to crack under pressure in a controlled environment throughout our training. The state fire marshal has a guideline they have to follow. I would say if you have not had any problems thus far on your skills, you should be fine. Its a lot less stressful once you get started the day of your test. I just about puked due to nerves until my name was called. Well like I said, its not LSU but I hope that helps.
P.S. I would study your PASS/FAIL criteria on things you need to verbalize to the proctor while testing. There are certain things you need to say while testing that if you don't, you fail automatically. At least thats the way it was in my academy.
