Just reviewed the Texas Forest Service new DVD "attack from the black".The Texas Forest Service has put together a great DVD.The information gets the message out.The DVD interviews Firefighters/chief officers injuried during engine burnover's on grass fires. They events are re-enacted on sand tables along with interviews of firefighters directly involved in decisions made on the fireline. The DVD will help send a real message firefighters. The DVD is available for purchase through the Texas Forest Service.

The U.S. Park Service also has the program - saw it a couple months ago, & yes, it's very informative and well put together.

I don't know if it's an exerpt or the whole thing, but NIFC put an approximate 20 minute video of this on this years Fireline Refresher dvd set. So it went to fed alphabet soup as well as any other gov agency or private company that uses this dvd set.

This concept is what the feds have been doing for at least 20 years... because I learned it 20 yrs ago with the USFS. Now if we could just beat it into the heads of those who just want to run up and put the wet stuff on the red stuff without thinking the whole process through. I know this is a large task... my volly dept has several members who have that as their thought process.

This program could be the same however the program documents engine burnovers of Texas VFD engine's using sandbox training and interviews with involved / injured firefighters. The Texas Forest Service appears to be the lead agency in its production.

BLM gave us a copy of this years Fireline refresher. We just watched it last night. The section on the Texas fires was very informative and started a lively discussion.
