This one got "floated" around the office a few weeks ago, but it was sent via email as an attachment and had no idea how to make it postable. It reminded me of my first structure fire.

Although the "pot" room did not burn (wonder why it was so well protected??? LOL) the front room, two bedrooms and the kitchen (at the back end) did get fire damged. Cause was suspected arson, but there were very limited trace elements unfortunately, and no proof of "who", although the family was pretty much exempt - they were out of province at the time of the fire and had been for more than a week. The neighbour was suspect... long story there, but he claimed to have tried to take the garden hose in through the front door.

Well there was a garden hose laying in the front lawn, but we had to breach the door with a sledge.... so the question came up: Who in his/her right mind locks a door when the house is on fire, and he/she claims to have advanced a garden hose to douse the fire??? Any you Investigator types ever hear a story like this?

Short story to the fire was that the house was remodelled by insurance and is still owned/occupied by the original family. Always wonder if they still grow pot on the side - although in British Columbia it is legal for "medicinal purposes" with an appropriate licence now.

What's the IDLH concern on that stuff again? In my old district,we worried more about meth chemicals joining the fire than "weeds".

Ask the widows of the 2 Philly firefighters who got tangled up in the basement of a pot house just how funny that is!
