    Default firefighter books

Does anyone know if there have been any books published about firefighters response to katrina or firefighters who are operating in iraq? Like personal account type books? Any help would be appreciated.

cbullock, there are none that I know of, but if any ever do come out I feel your best bet of someone carrying them would be FSP Books; I would keep an eye on their website which is:

Probably the best book on American firefighting is [I]Fireman Small [I]by Wong Herbert Yee. It looks at a typical day in the life of an urban firefighter. It is filled with excitement, drama, and some really poignant moments that made me proud of my profession. I've read it at least ten times and will probably read it ten more. I can't recommend this book enough. If you have ever thought about being a fireman, this is a must read.

Michelle Mahl Buuck wrote a book Firestorm - Hurricane Katrina and the St. Bernard Fire Department -- it may be what you're looking for. A quick Google search and I see it's on Amazon.com.

I have not come across any books about hurricane Katrina or Iraq but if your looking for a book about personal accounts of situations I would recommend the book "Last Man Down" it is about a FDNY chief and his account of being trapped in tower 1 of the world trade center. Idk if you would want it because it doesnt have to do with Katrina and Iraq and I know thats realy what your looking for but it is the best book I have found that deals with personal accounts.

That made me laugh. I don't know of any Katrina/Iraq firefighting books either, but if you are looking for books of personal accounts, "Report from Ground Zero" by Dennis Smith is a good one. As mentioned above, "Last Man Down" by Richard Picciotto and Daniel Paisner is another good one.

That's a good read if all your looking for is an author who brags about their accomplishments during a tragedy of mass proportions. Ask the FDNY guys on here what they think of that book. They'll tell you.

I thought it was a good book because it gave me a good insight of what was going on at the scene that day inside the towers thats all. thats why I thought it was a good book because it explained the things you didnt see on the news.
