    Default Feelings on Volunteers

I have a question for career firefighters who have NEVER been in the volunteer fire service and have spent there whole career as a paid firefighter...

How do you HONESTLY feel about volunteer firefighters?

Not to be rude, but try a search, and if you are a troll, just go away.

I think career firefighters are some of the greatest people I know. Many of my friends are career and the career/volunteer situation throughout our county is getting really better. As I have said before when this brought up last time there are some damn good career firefighter and damn good volunteer firefighter. There are also really **** poor career/volunteer firefighters as well.

I have a question for Fire Chiefs who have never had any common sense, never had the desire to have common sense, and missed the line in heaven for common sense before they came out the shoot..

How do you honestly make it out of bed, get dressed, and drive to work in the morning, I mean really, that has got to be pretty complicated for you?

I have learned a great deal from some of them and glad I met them, there are others that make me mad that they are paid to do anything, let alone firefighting. I am not sure a blanket question like this really answers anything!!

They are nirples...i may only be part-time but i make a paycheck off of it. If anyone is from illinois and has ever gone to the illinois fire service insititute you can make your judgements like mine most likely. Some of the instructors there were full-time guys in champagne but the rest were volunteer/explorer guys who wanted to tell you about a fire they got half way to. They were actually ****ed towards us because we were actually making a living off of this.

'The fire went out and nobody got hurt' is a poor excuse for a fireground critique.

Okay, 10 or 11 days a month when I am working at the career FD I hate the volly scabs and have general disdain for anything in a white shirt.

Conversely, 20 or 21 days a month when I am a volly I hate the paid mercenaries and have general disdain for anything in a blue shirt. Well, let me add an excpetion to that, my volly FD wears green t-shirts so I also have general disdain for anything in a green shirt!! Yes, I am a white shirt there...what the hell was I thinking??
