Toddler's Death Ruled Homicide

WASHINGTON -- The death of a 2-year-old D.C. girl has been ruled a homicide by the D.C. medical examiner.
Zion Tolbert's mother said her daughter was having trouble breathing last Thursday. The toddler was taken to Greatest Southeast Community Hospital and died less than an hour later.
The medical examiner's office ruled the toddler died of blunt force trauma and the manner of death a homicide. Police are asking anyone with information is asked to contact the Metropolitan Police Department's Violent Crime's Branch at 202-727-9099.
D.C. police offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the city.

Ok. They ruled it a homicide by blunt force trauma. That part is easy to understand. But why would they be asking for "anyone with information"? Where the heck were Mom and Dad during this incident?????

Follow up story (but same question applies)
WASHINGTON -- Police have ruled that a D.C. toddler's death was a homicide, authorities said Monday.
Police said that at about 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, 2-year-old Zion Tolbert was taken from her residence in the 3500 block of Brothers Place in Southeast to the Greater Southeast Community Hospital when her mother found she was having trouble breathing.
Tolbert was pronounced dead at the hospital at 1:05 p.m., authorities said.
Authorities have ruled that the toddler's death was caused by blunt force trauma.
The case is under investigation.
Anyone with possible information about this case is asked to call police at 202-727-9099.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of any person responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

There is another possibility, that DC Police use a standard form for writing press releases and the information that is confusing you is of the preprinted and not allways applicable variety.
