dumb laws. Marlborough version
This was passed afer a robbery of a convienence store where the weapon was a super soaker filled with bleach and sprayed into the face of the clerk. It is illegal to buy, sell or possess a squirt gun.
This one was passed after a Labor Day parade. It was a hot, humid day and silly string was sprayed over a number of vehicles int he parade, damaging the paint when it "baked on", etching the paint.. A few City vehicles ended up being repainted because of it, including the Fire Chief's car!Silly string is illegal in the city limits.
The councilor who wrote this and got it passed was nicknamed "Atomic Bomb Tom" by his critics. It was during the waning days of the Cold War and "Atomic Bomb Tom" got a lot of ribbing over it. In the present day, with terrorism on everyone's mind, it seems that he foresight! One may not detonate a nuclear device in the city.
He was a hell of a nice guy and a big supporter of the Department. As a matter of fact, he was part owner of the Torrent, Marlborough's first fire engine. He passed away in the early 1990's.Last edited by CaptainGonzo; 07-08-2007 at 10:48 AM.
"The education of a firefighter and the continued education of a firefighter is what makes "real" firefighters. Continuous skill development is the core of progressive firefighting. We learn by doing and doing it again and again, both on the training ground and the fireground."

What a great website. I just found out that in Pennsylvania if I am traveling on a country road at night I must stop at each mile and set off a rocket in order to clear the livestock. The problem with that is becuase I live in the state I can't purchase the rockets from the firewroks stores. Only out of staters can do that.
