    Default Beating the Heat

Obviously in this line of work heat is unavoidable, and if you can't handle the heat well... you know....

But I had to share this with everyone anyway. I thought it was a pretty good idea.

If you need to cool down at jobs after being exposed to heat, just fill a buck with water from the tank (should be cool enough) and place your hands in it. You'll be surprised how quickly just doing this lowers your body temp.

    Default Kore Kooler

Total Fire sells the Kore Kooler Rehab Chair which is a version of the "arms in a bucket" thing. The chairs are great and they're really inexpensive. The whole idea behind the chair is that soaking your arms in cool, not cold, water allows the blood that circulates through your arms to reduce your core body temperature.

i think ice vests just give your body the illusion of cooler skin temps but do nothing for the core temperature.

It has also been found to look better to the public than sitting in it.

    Default V-8

After a fire or a really long call I will feel spent. I have found if I drink a V-8 I will recover faster and am ready to go again.
