10th July 1991...
On the afternoon of July 10th 1991 Green Watch Fire Crews from Poplar and Bow Fire Stations in East London were called to an AFA at the Hayes Storage Warehouse, Gillender Street, Poplar East London. That evening, the incident had progressed to a Thirty Pump Fire with crews from across Central, East and North East London battling through the choking smoke of this storage warehouse trying to tackle a fire deep in its heart.
Before the fire gave up, it was to take two of London's Bravest with it... Ff Terry Hunt, a Veteren Firefighter of 15 Years and Ff David Stokoe a promising Probationer, both attached to F46 Silvertown Fire Station.
Brothers, many years and many faces of the LFB we knew then have passed, you wouldn't recognise the place now. But, those of us who were there at the time...we will never forget you and the sacrifice you made. July 1991 was a long time ago now... but the memories of that summer are still fresh in our hearts.

Yes the rigs are green. Can't lose a green fire engine in a parade, right?

To brothers who have passed making the ultimate sacrifice. We will never forget!"You see things and you ask, 'Why'? I dream of things that never were and I say, 'Why not'?
"I used to work in a fire hydrant factory. You couldn't park anywhere near the place."
"When you are kind to someone in trouble, you hope they'll remember and be kind to someone else. And it'll become like a wildfire."
