I can't remember if I heard it or read it somewhere, but I remember something either from OSHA or NFPA about firefighters needing 2 sets of turnouts. My department just recieved a grant for new turnouts, and our Chief (now retired) had stated we woud be keeping our old turnouts as a back-up set in-case we had a structure fire. Our interim (division) chief has just told us we will be turning in our old gear, which some guys have had there old gear for a little over a year and it's still in really good shape. What I am asking is if anybody has any information on the matter of needing 2 sets of turnouts, or if anybody can let me know where I can find it please let me know. This would be greatly appreciated as how it stands now, guys are having to come in on their days off to wash their turnouts. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thank You.
