    Default Orlando Fire Dept

I need some questions answered please. I tried a search with only an error message coming up.

    Orlando Fire Dept.

    How big is the Dept?
    Call Volume?
    Area of coverage?
Any one have thier SOP's available?
    Salary Spreadsheet?

I can see from their site and WOM they are a great Fire Dept. Just couldnt find the answers to the above questions.

I can answer a few of your questions, I had an instructor who was OFD Tower 1, and I did alot of looking at OFD for a career.

I do believe that this link http://www.cityoforlando.net/fire/fire_dept/index.htm
will answer more then I could.
Old school dept, lots of tradition.
Its like a northeastern dept plopped in the middle of Fla.

i tried to gather as much info as i could from thier site, its very non-navigation friendly.

The appearance and the word of mouth about this dept makes it very appealing. Reading the thread about the consolidation with Orange County makes it even better. Just solidifying the heresay about the tradition and the "unity" of the FIRE dept.

Just interested in the numbers and figures of the Dept.

The day OFD and OCFR consolidate is the day that there will be a LOT, and I mean a LOT, of openings.
I cannot speak on behalf of OFD, but that is the general feeling there. They have sent an engine to a funeral in Palm Bay, about an hour away. Very much Brotherhood oriented.

I know they are busy, but I dont have numbers to solidify that. It looks like 6 man Engine Cos. and 5 Man Truck/Tower Cos.
Looking on the big house's website, looks like lots of jobs.

OFD seems like a really good dept. I like the fact they have so much tradition.

ahhh Orlando, the best of the best. I will be there one day, i will settle for no less. I want to work for Orlando more than anyone. I just love the department, everything about them. I used to work for rural metro before getting a fire job and loved talking with the guys, doing ride alongs. They are just a great group of guys, extremely strong in tradition, and TONS of knowledge and smart guys there. Just the best department around in my opinion.

They also have a pretty decent hockey team and put on a hell of a tournament. More than 30 teams from all over the country last year.

The fire department website has just undergone a complete redesign. Check it out at http://cityoforlando.net/fire/index.htm

Also, "The Bighouse" website will soon be undergoing some updates. Feel free to post a question on the guestbook and it will be answered quickly.
