Why does there seem to be so much political crap when it comes to mutual aid? A fire chief gets personally upset and no longer uses that department for responses. Another fire chief does not call on the closest department to assist but rather a department that he has friends in. And yet still a fire chief calls for an untrained department for a technical rescue instead of the actual trained county team only because "he does not play well with others".
It almost seems as though these chiefs have forgotten that we are there to provide the best service we can to our customers. These same chiefs have such a stronghold on their departments that the members are afraid of voting them out.
With these chiefs being elected inside their volunteer departments there seem to be very little in the way of repercussions. Other than going to the media and calling out these chiefs does anyone have another idea?
