    Default 2006 afg supplemental funds

Just starting a thread to see if anyone has heard anything or gotten any information on 2006 supplemental funds. i did recieve a 1199A update and mailed it in. It seems that there was a problem with the paperwork I sent in. The sheet had the word NULL in two areas of the form sections D and E. I have to send another one in to correct the problems. Just for the record, be sure that anytime you work with grants you have the correct settings on your internet explorer. I had to change my internet explorer to update a web page anytime you visit it, my was set to do it when ever IE wanted to. I called my state grant specialist to inquire about the 10 questions and he told me that they these grant awards are on hold. he would not elaborate. So just though I would pass some info on as well as open an area for discussion. Anyone have anything to add. Thanks

We received our Q's and returned them on July 3rd. Haven't heard anything else since then. Still have a award # for our 2006 vehicle app on 1199A link. Everything on our 1199A is the same since our '02 and '04 awards. So haven't needed to update anything.

Yeah, I've got something to add: YGBSM! (You've gotta be s**tting me)

We got the 1199a update for our 06 app on 30 Jun, sent in the paperwork 02 Jul and got a 'we got your 1199 update' e-mail on the 10th. NOTHING since then.

Just slightly frustrating when you see 07 1199's and 10q's flowing this fast after waiting as long as we have.

Not that I'm complaining, I'm just happy we got something OTHER than a DJ for once!! What's a few more weeks in the grand scheme of things, right?

Bear in mind that even though you've been lucky enough to hit an excess award from last year, the spread of 1199's and 10Qs for this year will eventually get to be a few months apart from awards. It's only been 9 days...relax, sounds like it's coming!

We are still waiting to hear about last year's grant. So far no update or questions. Checking multiple times a day, every day. I need a vacation. Well for now I guess I'll have a Coke and a smoke, and then, check again.

    Default 1199a acceptance email

I just got an 1199A acceptance email that stated that the info was accepted and would be used when requesting funds. Well at least the tunnel from the DHS checkbook and ours is ready Now just get me the ten questions and lets announce this thing already. Just for the record I will be the first person in the history of afg to get this far and not get funded. hmm well looks nothing more to do now but wait again. Oh, I should probably check my email, then egrant app, then back to the forum, it has been 2 minutes.

I guess I'm getting someone else's action, I'm the email contact for one of my clients since they don't have any emails in the department and we have both the 2006 excess fund and 2007 app#'s on the 1199A. Too bad they're both for the same truck, but I guess there's no doubt they're getting one of them.

    Default Repeat 1199

We got another 1199 via our contact e-mail listing the 2006 application # (no mention of 2007). Checked the application on-line and there are no other changes. FYI the 'new'/repeat e-mail did not go to the application mail center.

    Default just got 10 questions

I received an email containg a bunch of questions. They want to reduce our 6000 pis compressor from 37500 to 35000. I called our Bauer rep and he said the price has gone up this year to 40000 for the unit he quoted us 37500 last year. Still working on him ;( I am going to call a few other compressor dealers and get some more bids to hopefully get this guy to honor his 2006 quote. The questionare said that the 64000 we requested for a vehicle exhaust system seemed excessive and they want me to send them bids and specs. Well I also have to answer all the other questions. Any input would be appreciated. thanks

Since this is for a supplemental grant for 2006, it doesn't surprise me that pricing has increased. It's been more than a year, prices increase. You do have the proof to fight the reduction and at least restore the compressor to the original cost. Give them a call and plead your case with the new quote that pricing has gone up (better if you have quotes from more than 1 that exceed your request). All they can do is say no.

If you are a municipal department does that figure for the compressor require a formal bid process? If so, the competition for the compressor should bring down the cost.

As for the vehicle exhaust system. In 2003 we had a Plymovent System installed at both stations for a cost $57,800 (doesn't include electrical work) which is about $8,300/vehicle.

A nearby department had it installed last year, I believe it cost over $80,000 for 1 station with 7 vehicles. The difference between the 2 is the track system, theirs is more elaborate than ours.

That may be all the funds they have left and they are trying to find the best possible way to use them.

    Just food for thought.
