Default Passenger 'hid monkey under hat'

Every day it's something new... No one at the TSA checkpoint saw this???

    Passenger 'hid monkey under hat'

A man has been questioned by police at LaGuardia airport in New York after smuggling a monkey onto a flight from Florida by hiding it under his hat.
Passengers spotted the animal when it climbed out and perched on the man's ponytail, Spirit Airlines spokeswoman Alison Russell told reporters.

Ms Russell said the monkey - a marmoset - spent the remainder of the flight in the man's seat and was well-behaved.

It is unclear whether the unnamed man will face any criminal charges.

The man's journey originated in Lima, Peru. Ms Russell said it was not known how the man avoided detection there, and during a several-hour stopover in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

When passengers noticed the fist-sized primate on the flight, they asked the man "if he knew he had a monkey on him", Ms Russell said.

New York animal control officials said the monkey appeared to be healthy, the Associated Press news agency reported.

It said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was planning to quarantine the animal for a month.

After that, the monkey could be sent to a zoo, AP said.

Great, now we won't be allowed to wear hats on an airplane for fear of terrorists using tiny, adorable monkeys to storm the cockpit.

I caught a bit of this on the TV news and then read it in the local stuff.... I'm still a bit stunned as to how he got passed security without removing his hat and putting it through the x-ray.

Pardon me sir, but is that a monkey on your hat, or are you just happy to see me?

And if the monkey had not been well behaved, would spanking it have been the appropriate disciplinary method?

No you see the TSA only has _METAL_ detectors. Their Monkey Detector was on the fritz.

Maybe it was a seeing-eye monkey?

Maybe it was a Yellow Hat and everyone just thought he was filming the next Curious George movie?

I can see it now: next time you fly, in addition to getting wanded with a metal detector wand at the TSA checkpoint, you're going to get wanded with a banana to lure any stashed monkeys into the open....

Doesn't he know he could have saved a visit to the vet by putting "Curious George"through the X ray machine?
