Default For the old 80's music fans...

Its been mentioned in here before- The old 80s retro music. And I AINT talking about the stock retreads from Michael Jackson, Madonna and Soft Cell's "Tainted Love". Its the rare and raw good stuff you dont hear anymore.

So, from the people who started it all in Southern California- radio station KROQ (K-Rock), I give you thier FREE streaming link to the good stuff. Just click on the link and the click on "LISTEN LIVE".

    Enjoy, Bou

I love it when the "kids" rave about a "new" song that they heard...

I love it even more when you can either sing the lyrics as it plays onthe radio or even better and pull out the CD of the original artist out of your collection!

Right now, as I post this, KROQ is playing Frank and Moon Zappa's "Valley Girl"

    Brett... thanks for the link!

Thanks for the link and apologies for the following hijacking:

And how is the new Rush album, Gonz? I haven't liked anything since Hold Your Fire.

I'm sick and tired of the crap being released these days. Does that mean I'm old?

You're right. New music (as in completely new) today sucks. Flat out. Once in a while someone turns something out that's good, but that's rare. And a bunch of the good songs from today are all covers and such of great songs from times past.

Half the stations in my car are oldies stations, because I find better music on those stations that the current music stations. New music blows. Like last night I was riding around with a friend, and Frankie Vallie and such came on, and they wanted to change the station. Nope, we blasted "Oh What A Night". That's good music for ya!

@CALFFBOU: I'll have to check this out when I get a chance. Thanks for the link.

I was a teen in the late 60's. But I liked the 80's music because the 70's was the disco era.....ugh!!

    Great link Bou.

I'm 26 so I'm definitely not, you know, old like some of you people (kidding ) but anyways, I gotta agree with y'all. Todays music sounds like, uh, something that hits the fan. I can't stand it.

One of my favorite stations was WKOS, and all they played was oldies. I mean, like stuff from the 60s. None of this new age crap. But then suddenly one day without warning, they changed to "The Peak". Not that it's a bad channel now, because they do play a lot of 80s music. But I like a lot of the old stuff too. I did find a channel on AM - WKPT - and it's "all oldies, all the time". But it's AM so the reception at times stinks.

Thanks much for the link. My sis loves 80s music too, so I'll let her know about it to!

And Frenchie, UB40...I have their song, "Red Red Wine" as a ringtone on my phone

And CaptainGonzo...how many times have you seen like 14 year olds sporting the "new" t-shirts from The Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones....

Alright then, who agrees with VH1 that the number one 80's song is Bon Jovi's Livin' on a Prayer? If not that list yours!

"Sweet Child O' Mine" by GNR....late 80's song, but an 80's song nonetheless...

Oh man you fogie I was just 4 years old when you graduated

Y'all remember when Smashmouth redid "I'm a Believer" for Shrek? Kids went crazy over that song...um, yeah.... Wasn't that the Monkees that sung that Years Ago?

Ok, lets go a little farther. Kids and bellbottom britches. Oh they're called "flares" now but we all know what they are. That and those weird crinkley lookin' shirts. Y'all know what I'm talking about. Walk into a clothing store and it looks like the 60s puked all over the place And now they're bringing back the 80s tube tops, leggings, bigger than crazy big belts and earrings, and all those bracelet things.... Personally I'm waiting for the poodle skirts and those black and white shoes.

Knight - Someone once told me they were 39 and holding. I told them that bag must be getting mighty heavy by now

Too - If you know Al Jolson's songs, from the original airings, then you've been around a while

Remember Run DMC putting the defib to Aerosmith's career? Who woulda guessed?

I admit I liked VanHagar as much as Van Halen.

Def Leppard - well, like the joke goes "What has seven arms and sucks?"

I'm still a die hard Little Feat fan, though they're sort of a 60's/70's group, but even they had a good comeback in the 80's with Let it Roll.

Man the early-mid 80's was HUGE for metal/hard rock fans...Iron Maiden, Metallica, (post Bonn ) ACDC, 38 special, Dio, Even the Later Sabbath stuff (Mob Rules, Born Again), Van Halen.....there are so many!!!

Not a big fan of the big hair bands of the late 80's though, Poison, Warrant (she's only eleventeen) ....that ****!! Barf.

I'm a spring chicken and happen to love 80's music.

But I do have to admit, that I listen to country just as much as I do rock.
