Ok, I know what y'all are thinking - but no its not quite like that.. well ok. Almost. Anyhow, I found this in the Canadian Military newspaper, Maple Leaf. Even though it was written by some ARMY GEEK, I figured that the moral behind it was worth presenting:
Stand For Thee!

Uniforms, parades and guns,
Orders, forms, salutes, and runs.
Endless days of preparation,
As you stand ready for confrontation.
Barely a thought of consequence
Nor concern for where you’re sent.
For as a soldier, EME, and
As a Royal you have learned,
To do your duty, without concern.
Whether by chance or voice divine
Early in life you stood in line.
A job, a career, or profession
For over 30 years it’s been my obsession.
Prepared to give your all, and pay the ultimate price,
So that others can live without fear or strife.
Freedom for all, no matter who,
Muslin, Christian, Jew – and atheist too!
As I stand, again, for another ramp ceremony,
I wonder, how to feel, what to say, lost for words,
Another brother/sister going home in Glory.
To Rwanda, now to Afghanistan, you must go,
Far from family and friends at home.
As we go to war and bear arms,
It is the soldier ONLY, who has given us freedom
May God keep us safe, and bring us home unharmed.
Arte et marte, by skill and fighting
Pro patria, for country.

Should be "even if it was written by an EME geek". What an odd bunch they are.
Nice find though RickIf someone with multiple personalities threatens to kill himself, is it considered a hostage situation?

For sure man.
They are the biggest pains in the *** in the military. You go to find them here in Bordem and it's like trying to find Waldo. Afternoon's they gone by 2 pm, so that leaves 2 hours that if something goes wrong on a vehicle that we cannot get anything done until the morning. Makes things even worse that half the maintainers here are Dirty Civ's.

See Ryan, thats your problem right there. You're in Bordem man. Ya gotta get out to the Regiments somewhere. The V-techs there work their butts off, and are always willing to lend a hand if needed. Or at least the ones I knew were like that.
God when I think about it, that was over 15 years ago when I last worked directly with a V-tech in the field.....

True enough Rick. Borden is a "special" case. Nothing here is done the way it should be. I can't wait to get outta this place. Jan 29 is my Grad date and it cannot get here soon enough. I'd say that over the past 15 years things have changed... A LOT. I think a lot of the old school good guys are being replaced with these clowns that are comin through now. I know a lot of the guys going through Maintainers course(at least the lucky ones who get on course) might as well be chair force they are that lazy. Hopefully they change when they get to a unit.
