Sex Offender Arrested After Attempting To Pick Up Student From School. Police: Mother Sent Family Friend To Pick Up Student

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Annapolis police arrested a registered child sex offender Tuesday night after he allegedly attempted to pick up a student at Annapolis High School earlier in the day, authorities said.
According to the school, a man entered the school's main office at about 2 p.m. to pick up a student. School officials entered the man's identification into the school's Raptor/Vsoft computer and learned the man was a possible registered sex offender.
School officials said the man appeared to be nervous as they asked him for more information. He told them he was the student's relative but left the school without the student. The school resource officer was notified and began investigating.
The man was identified as 22-year-old Torrence Ramone Davis. Police said he is registered as a child sex offender and is banned from public school properties.
The school resource officer said he contacted the student's mother and learned that Davis is a family friend who had been asked to pick up the student.
Davis was arrested at his Annapolis home at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and charged with trespassing on school property, police said.

Sounds like a lack of thinking on his part and the Mom's part.....now he's just piled extra s#!* on his plate to help a friend. But like you said....he knows the rules and could've/should've said no. It will be interesting to see what additional charges/penalties come out of this.

On the positive side, I did not know there was a computer system to input the ID's of folks in cases like this at school now.
That seems like a great use of technology, and applied well.
