I tried looking on the forums but couldnt find the answer. Does anyone have the helmet weights for the different helmets out there?
Phenix TL 2?
I have a Ben 2 but would like to get a leather but was interested in the weight difference and the websites dont really say what the weights are that I have seen.

Different helment weights

I was just looking into this a few days ago, I'm not sure what the ben 2 plus weighs but here are the weights I found when I was looking around.
N6A - 71 oz
N5A - 48 oz
Phenix tl2 - 55 oz
Paul Conway leather - 65 oz
Cairns 1010 - 53 oz

I don't remember the actual weight of the helmets, but it has been discussed here before. That said, The Phenix TL2 is the lightest leather IIRC. After picking one up is was surprised to find my TL felt no heavier than my department issued Cairns 880. I honestly can't feel any weight difference once it's on my head, and wouldn't think twice about buying a second TL-2, should I ever need a second one.
Finally, the Phenix was designed in the late 90's, so it is relatively up-to-date in terms of safety and technology. There are a few on this board that will give you a hard time for buying a leather helmet- saying it's old technology and you shouldn't get one- however, I have yet to see any evidence that my TL-2 is any less effective in protecting me that an 880/1010/or any other composite helmet. I don't run as many fires as the Chicago, LA, or New York boys, however the 1500 runs a year my truck goes on has given me plenty of opportunity to review my helmets ability to protect me.

I don't remember the actual weights off hand, but I was surprised to find out that my new Ben 2 Plus actually only weighed a few onces less than my 13 year old N5A (with the same "extras" on each) when I weighed them. My department issued 1010 with the full face shield came in within the same ballpark, weight wise too.
I dont' know what the difference is as compared to a newer N5A. Mine is from the pre-ratchet head band days and I don't know if they figured out any new ways to reduce the weight to offset that increase.

PM Kevin (aka Fireman4949). He has a Phenix TL that he has had for some time so I'm sure you could get some good info on them. I'm almost positive thats what I'm going to order.
