How soon is the Medical typically scheduled after panel review...and then what?

    Thanks everyone!
It varies for everyone. I had to wait almost 16 weeks for the final review panel to finish. A lot of the guys in this thread that are in the tower now said it took 8 to 9 weeks for them. Unfortunately it will vary for everyone. After the med/psych you wait to see if you passed. They will send you a letter stating you passed and then hopefully you will receive a call soon thereafter inviting you to the tower.
Stay positive. No news is good news. Best of luck.

Just as a heads up, I received a letter in the mail today that I have passed the initial panel review and will be contacted by my Background Investigator in 30 days. I was in the September 18th group that went in for backgrounds. Good luck to all that are in the process.

    Smile resume and past information

hey guys i had some questions.

    1. is the resume you give them at the interview supposed to be 1 page? if so should you include a cover page.

    2. info on the resume. i've had close around 7 different jobs over the passed 10 years. do you have to list all the jobs by date in detail? or just the most important ones? i don't want to list all the different car dealer ships i went to. my current resume i just listed my last 3 jobs that i believe are most relevant. any input on this?

    3. passed history. when i filled out the online application it asked if you have any misdemeanors. i had a speed contest some 8-9 years ago. i listed it on my application but i'm not exactly certain on the date. will that be held against me if the date is a little off?

any help anyone could give me on these questions would be great. i hope you all have a safe fire free holiday

I had background interview with my investigator : July 29th
I got the letter stating I passed my backgrounds: August 19th
Wow that was a fast background. I have nothing in my background and I am very young. I've been in mine for 2 months now I think... but I heard anywhere from 1 - 6 months so its all good. Staying patient.

    Default Background and hiring status

Took test 8-16-08. Had oral interview 9-30-08 100 score. Met with investigator 10-2-08 Notified I was placed on hiring list 11-4-08. Waiting to hear from investigator and final panel review. Hope to be hired for April 2009. Concerned about hiring freeze due to economy. FDNY and NYPD cancelled new recruit classes due to the economy. Anybody have new information about LAFD hiring? Thanks. Good luck to all!

Do you happen to know how long it takes to get your results back?

I just spoke with one of the drill masters for LAFD and he said they have funding for back to back academies up through 2010. Hopefully that will stand true, but LA City is really hurting financially, so we shall see.

Whats the biggest advise you can give someone about to take the oral interview. i believe i should pass the written. at most maybe i missed 7-8 problems. hopefully that will constitute passing. if i pass, i'm guessing from everyones time frames i could interview sometime in late january to early febuary. i could use all the advise i could get. thanks.
