I am almost through the process. I passed the written, bpad and C-pat tests. OCFRD said that interviews will be durring the 1st week in October. Are there any OCFRD guys out there that can give me an idea of what to expect? Any advise would be appreciated.

Mine is the 20th. I just got off the phone with them. There are 63 candidates left and 33 spots. 32 counting mine. Good luck!

63 people for 33 spots? Those are pretty good odds!
Hopefully being a medic will help . Did you hear when this class will start if we do get hired?

Not sure what interview OCFRD uses but I know a technique known as "situational interviewing" has been implemented recently in some departments. I would look into that and start thinking about some answers to the questions they might ask. It can be very intense if you have never dealt with this type of questioning before. Here is a link to get you started: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&s...ns&btnG=Search

Good luck to all of you and let us know how it goes.

no but the tester hints at if you did well.

He told me that he didn't see any major problems, so I'll take that as good.

My tester said that I did fine. I called Orange County but they didn't have the official word yet. Hopefully they won't keep me waiting too long.

    Great thread.
I was just notifed last week on my written test date in late October. I am in the "non-cert" hire group. If my calculations are correct, from beginning to end (from the written test to first day) it is about 18 weeks for you guys?

    Thanks.

    Thanks smokeeater110 for your reply.
I forgot to ask this one other question, which you or anyone here who has gone through the hiring process:
On the day that I show up for my written test, is wearing a shirt and tie over doing it?

Good luck to you guys that are almost done in hiring process. Perhaps we will work together someday if I make it through myself.

    Thanks.

A shirt and tie is a good idea. As I recall they told us to come in "professional atire" I wore a shirt and tie.

oc makes you jump through sooo many hoops. sounds like you guys are on your way. like everywhere else oc has it's issues.but you can't beat the job.just be willing to learn from the old guard and do as they say. a loy of new guys, but cert and non cert, come in with an attitude like they made it through the process and that is enough. you never stop learning. read everything you can and take all the classes you can. good luck.

Congratulations! Sounds like you're on your way to getting hired. The psych shouldn't be a big deal by the way. Just make sure you are honest on the written tests and not trying to "Sell Yourself" to the shrinks. Let us know how it works out.
