    Default Rap Video

This video is causing a media frenzy over by me...officially sanctioned by the LFB, the Proby Ff is a Rap Singer... since its release its been on TV and the kid has been interviewed a few times on the National News etc. Aimed at getting people to install Smoke Alarms...

Nice. A far cry from the scumbag from Philly who used his rap talents to advocate killing cops.

The same scumbag who now earns a paycheck playing a detective on TV? Talk about low!

    Two different scumbags

The one from Philly used to be a firefighter, the other a gansta' rapper.

Yeah, I don't think Ice-T was a firefighter. Anyway, from this video.....how far do they really have to go to get to their rig? That's the real important question.

Not too far, most of the accomodation is on the ground floor anyway...just think the camera work made it look like that. The Station is Wimbledon in SW London (yep, near where the Tennis Championship is held) It is a modern (1997) Multi-Appliance Station with an Engine, Aerial, Rescue Co & Mass Decon vehicle. So there are about 18 on each shift and the building is laid out to accomodate them comfortably. I have never been there because its the other side of the LFB planet from me, but have been to other similar large modern Stations.

    Thumbs up

My question is... Has this made any impact on the number of smoke detectors installed? Any stats on the video causing someone to call the freephone and request a visit? The kid is quite talented ( at least my 14 year-old says so!) Guess I'm too Dang old...

    Jim,
    Good question....
Its way too early to say yet, the LFB haven't released this video through the TV companies etc, and if they do CFS (Community Fire Safety) is now given as high a priority as Ops work... Between the 113 Station in LFB we have to carry out 35,000 Home Fire Safety Visits each year.

The Brigade attends around 250,000 calls each year of which around 60,000 are actual Fires. So acheiving 35,000 of these visits in quite a lot and we have to give over 8% of our time to CFS...not so easy at some of the inner City Stations when you factor in Training, Station duties and 4-5000 calls every year!

Even if the video did generate some more referalls, it would have to be a significant rise to notice among the 65,000 carried out by us and our partners*

*30,000 of the visits are carried out my partner agencies such as Help the Aged, Housing Co-Operatives, Local Councils etc, the rest, as I said are carried out by our Crews.

awesome SteveDude. The idea that the call that never came is the one where prevention made the difference. If this video was played where I work I'm sure our smoke detector program would have to purchase more to keep up.
    Great work LFB.

    Very nice.

(and the little bit of whacker devil in me got kick out of the reverse FIRE t-shirt ).

I would love to see that given community service rotation on the mainstream video channels too.

    Yes. Yes he was.

Has he appealed? Is the union backing him? (Serious questions).
